Hialeah, Florida – The American Institute of Architects will recognize Mayor Julio Robaina at Its Gala event at the Gusman Center for Performing Arts. Mayor Robaina will be honored for providing the youth of Hialeah with programs that encourage continued education and especially for supporting and implementing the architectural programs and related fields as part of the City of Hialeah Summer Program.

Mayor Robaina’s commitment to education is providing the youth of Hialeah with the very best in educational options, including opening the City’s first charter school dedicated to the training of police and fire communications personnel, the areas first school for Autism and with the help from the Children’s Trust an excellent CLAP After School Program.

“We have been involved with the AIA “Architects in the Making” program since its inception 4 years ago and it has helped enlighten the children by involving them with the world of architecture, design, and color. It gives them an opportunity that they would not normally get in a traditional school.” announced Mayor Robaina.

“Architects in the Making” is taught by professionals who donate their time and talent to the program. 26 kids participate every summer and get firsthand experience with everything from design, construction & architectural terminology, architectural computer programs and green models. The Course is taught in three levels beginners, intermediate and advanced.
